To truly nourish your health as a fully integrated person in mind, body and spirit, you need to attend to your well-being in each of these areas. This means nurturing your physical, mental and spiritual wellness.
As Pope St. John Paul II stated, 'Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth' (Fides et Ratio). Addressing your health can draw from both the Catholic faith and reason (evidence-based science), such as lifestyle medicine and positive psychology.
Multiple topics are available for presentations or parish wellness programs offered to your congregation on health & spiritual growth. Sessions encourage participation and small group discussion.
Combine a parish wellness presentation with Eucharistic adoration. After learning about a health or spirituality topic, participants attend a holy hour with piano/vocals provided by me.
Offer a series of wellness talks during Lent or Advent. Participants are encouraged to learn and apply topics over several weeks to grow community engagement and individual health.
Learn how to achieve holiness & health using the Holy Trinity as your model for flourishing in mind, body and spirit, while incorporating evidence-based recommendations from lifestyle medicine.
Discover your God-given strengths using an evidence-based character strengths survey and learn how to leverage these strengths for your own wellbeing and that of your parish.
No need to choose between the two: Consider the complimentary nature of faith and science by learning more about how the Church has nurtured scientific development over centuries.
Do you find your mind wandering during Mass? Learn about the benefits of regulating your attention to the present moment, a practice that can also increase self-awareness and overall wellbeing.
Our society promotes finding happiness in wealth & power, yet Jesus clearly taught otherwise. Consider the perspectives of philosophers over centuries & the new science of positive psychology.
In the Old Testament, the prophet Daniel chose to abstain from the rich foods of the king's table, which was fruitful for both his spiritual growth and his bodily health. The Daniel Fast is a partial fast that focuses on spiritual development, while avoiding foods and drink that don't truly nourish our body. Like Daniel, you'll learn to eat real plant foods, while eliminating processed foods, animal products, caffeine and alcohol. The first few weeks of Lent help you to reduce harmful foods, while slowly increasing healthful foods. In the days prior to Easter, participants can choose to follow a 10-day or 21-day Daniel Fast, which allows unlimited whole plant foods and water, but avoids foods that harm our health.
